Music
Music has been a part of my life since I was small, singing myself to sleep in the car or playing the piano. I fell in love with electronic music early on, with Sash! 'Encore un Fois' being the first single I bought. It took me until my 20s to begin creating electronic music, and with a foundation in piano as my main instrument, the keyboard and composition skills transmitted easily. Music production enabled me to create the kind of music I loved listening to growing up, and to compose and write tracks combining genres including chill wave, low fi, house, drum n bass, pop, hip hop, trip hop, funk and classical.
The story so far...
I studied on the Independent Artist Program at Musicians Institute (MI) in Hollywood, Los Angeles. This course covered music production, songwriting, film & tv composition, vocals, & music business. I studied production in Logic X, with Marc Dold, Jon Bates and Jon Brown (Grammy Nominated Producer, Eminem & Pink). For vocals, I have had a number of amazing coaches, including Giovana Gattuso, Gisa Vatky, Maisie Tooley (BBC’s All Together Now) and Katie Bunting. You’d think I’d be able to sing in public by now haha. I’ve been lucky to have DJ instructors at MI DJ Jedi (Emmy winning turntablist) and Charlie Sputnik with MI Online Intro to DJing Course, as well as Scottie in Newquay! Currently I have a Pioneer DDJ SX2, with Serato, which works great for the kind of music I create and mixes I make.
At the NAMM Show I was endorsed by Arturia, French synth company, who continued to support me setting up and teaching music production courses for Adults with Autism, with Volunteer Cornwall, in 2016. I've DJed for Volunteer Cornwall parties, and Wave Projects, including at Fistral Beach Bar, The Watering Hole, Wax Watergate, and Falmouth Sailing Club.
In Summer 2018 I had a DJ residency at Belushi's Newquay, DJing chillout sessions on Sunday afternoons, upbeat sessions Saturday afternoons, and Latin/party nights on Wednesdays. I also did chillout sets at Barefoot Bar, and opened for Sunset Sessions at Fistral Beach Bar. I also DJed with sax player, Carly Marie for Scarlett Entertainment's summer party at Torbay Yacht Club, and was added to Scarlett Entertainment's collective of artists. Towards the end of the season, I was honoured to DJ for charity event Reggie's Right Hand Army fundraiser at the Watershed, and in October 2018, DJ for Escape Surf School's relaunch party. Good times!
