Dream

Turning your dreams into reality is one of the happiest things you can do. From little things to huge, ambitious challenges, manifesting your dreams into the world is a powerful feeling! I believe it is one of the reasons we are all here - to bring whatever is in us out, so we can share it with the world. Like seeds planted, we each have our own quirks, thoughts, style, purpose, drive and location. But sometimes it can be hard to know what our dreams are, or what to do about them, and how to have the courage to find and pursue them. We often have multiple dreams, and we can gradually work through them like a cosmic 'to do' list, crossing them off as we go through life!

Luckily, when you start pursuing your dreams, I've found there is always a kindred community to warmly welcome you in, support you, and show you the way. From yoga, surfing, freediving, music, startups, and entrepreneurship, and environmentalism. Your tribe is just waiting for you to arrive!

It is our job and purpose, as a human, to find and live out these inner feelings. Feeling lost to feeling that you're finding yourself is one of the most amazing feelings. Though it is also an ongoing process of discovery - when you talk to 'successful' people, they'll tell you they have so much more they want to do! But you also have to sit an enjoy what you've already done and what you're doing too!

Some of my dreams have come true already... DJing my own music, surfing a shortboard, and going to Disneyland!

Dream Pathway

There are maybe 6 stages, and you may be at each stage with different parts of your life or dreams, or able to skip one or more, or move between them. There's no rush, so this is just a list of suggestions, based on experience:

1. Unidentified: not sure what your dream is
... so take some time to yourself to reconnect with yourself, meditate, walk, journal, or try a few things out..

2. Identified, but secret
... maybe start working on it a little bit, or thinking about it before opening up to people..

3. Identified and studying/learning craft..
...maybe you've had some time playing around, and now considering taking classes/developing...

4. Identified and doing it as a hobby regularly/working towards career
... it's a part of your life, and you're comfortable with it and know and enjoy the processes..

5. Identified and mastered it and working fully on it
... full-time, dream-living status.. congrats!

6. Identified and developing upcoming dreamers
... maybe sharing the dream is up next? teaching/coaching/mentoring?..

Inspiration

If you need some inspiration and guidance, here are my favourite books on business, creativity and personal development. These are ones to read and re-visit whenever you need.

Creativity

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love), is a cornerstone book for how to access and use your creativity, and how to manage a creative lifestyle and mentality.

The War of Art is Steven Pressfield's gem on how to beat your own internal resistance. A good ass-kickin' book, it's the one you need to pull you out of a slump!

Show Your Work! by Austin Kleon is another great creative boost focusing on the processes around art and creativity, and the importance of sharing your work (even if you don't feel ready).

Sing To Me by LA Reid shows you the inside of the creative journey and stories behind one of the USA's top names in Music.

Personal Development

Mindset by Dr Carol S. Dweck is a powerful book to help you channel a mindset which will help put you into a better frame of mind for success, happiness, and improved relationships.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle has become a spiritual classic. It's message is simply about connecting with the 'Now' which is really powerful for creativity, focus and happiness!

The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks is about identifying and overcoming that barriers that are holding you back.

Startups & Business

The Lean Startup by Eric Ries, and Inspired by Marty Cagan are key books for any entrepreneur looking to develop a new idea, product or service.

The Art of War for Women by Chin-Ning Chu is a take on the Art of War book for women, and helps apply this to business.

The Millionaire Messenger by Brendon Burchard has specifically helped me write my own book, and given me the courage and assurance to go for it!

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg helps you understand people and their behaviours, ie how to understand your customer better. This is also great for personal development.
